Balsam Fir - Abies balsalmea

Balsam fir is a slow-growing conifer with a mature height of 45-75 feet and a tall, straight trunk. It prefers moist, cool, well-drained soils and is not drought tolerant. Fir grows best in full sun or partial shade but will tolerate shadier conditions. Needles are flat, dark green, and aromatic, and cones are upright and cylindrical.
